[B] Just want to say thanks to all the pards who participated like gentlemen in the discussions regarding SASS and COWBOY Action Shooting. We’ve seen that the IPSC/Weaver style used to dominate Cowboy Action Shooting and disenfranchise the Period shooters is indeed anachronistic, and while it shouldn’t be eliminated, it should only be played in its own category, like all the others are. We’ve also seen how the fact that two handed/offhand thumb cocking shooting was not used prior to the twentieth century, and all attempts to prove otherwise fly in the face of history, facts, and common sense.

Although some of the worst came out in some folks, it is a good thing to see who is actually who. It took harassment and insults, petty commentary and bullying to get two threads shut down, and that has a good side too: The need of some to resort to petty insults only proves the validity of the topic, and the measure of their convictions. Above all, I got in contact with quite a few pards who truly believe in honor, ethics, and the Spirit of the Game!

True friendship, true camaraderie, does not depend upon keeping our mouths shut when we have an opinion; it depends upon honesty and loyalty, and speaking our peace. These discussions have brought out some anger and resentment, but they have also produced thought and the realization that many of us feel the same about a hobby we hold very dear. Let’s take action and make some fair changes. Let’s work together to preserve this game, to keep it at a level where we can all truly enjoy it; If we don’t, it will surely fall forfeit to the gods of gimmickry and winning-at-any-cost. [/B]
